I can't quite place it, photography for me is more than just a hobby, it's a way of life.
For me capturing people in the moment whether they are happy or sad is special, because it is those emotions that can live on to tell a story, or just simply evoke sentimentality. Photography is a way of connecting the present with the past in a sense that it creates physical memoirs, and this in particular is something I have always regarded with sentiment.
I have always preferred black and white photography to colour as I find them to be more atmospheric. On the contrary, I do like colour photographs for their vibrancy and they tend to be more dynamic, whereas a black and white photograph, in my opinion is more emotive.
I have been interested in photography since I was a child; I remember having my own film camera but always loved the exposable Kodak ones. I especially remember going to Spain when I was ten, but was not interested in simply snapping photographs of my family, but instead wanted to photograph what I could see around me. The strong passion really started when I was sixteen and in the middle of my GCSEs and through sheer hard work and dedication I was able to obtain an A* for A-Level Photography which I am very proud of. Photography means everything to me and will continue to do so for the rest of my life.
